Instant Pot Chana Masala | Zero Oil Chole | Punjabi Chole
Equipment
- Pressure Cooker
Ingredients
- 1 cup Kabuli chole / White chole
Ingredients
- 1 Onion
- 1 Tomato
- 3-4 Garlic
- 1/2 inch Ginger
- 2 Green Chillies (Slit) (Optional)
Dry masalas
- 1 tbsp Chole Masala
- Salt to taste
Other Ingredients
- 3-4 pieces Dry Amla or 1 tbsp Amla Powder
- 1 tsp Tea or 1 tea bag
Instructions
- Firstly, add soaked chole in a pressure cooker.
- Now, add amla pieces or amla powder in it. If you don't have amla pieces or amla powder, you can add tea or tea bags for colouring. I use amla powder because along with a beautiful colour it adds a tangy taste to chole.
- Next step is to add roughly sliced onion, tomato, ginger and garlic. You can add slit green chillies if you want your Punjabi chole spicy.
- Add salt to taste. At last, add 3-4 cups of water. We will add chole masala later on.
- Finally, cover the lid of the pressure cooker and allow it to cook for 30 minutes at medium flame.
- After 30 minutes, check the chole by pressing them with the back of your spatula. If they are still hard or uncooked, add 1 cup water and again keep them on a medium flame for more 10 minutes.
- In the end, add chole masala and mix well.
- Your Zero oil Chole is ready to serve. Garnish it with chopped dhania leaves. Serve it with rice, roti, poori or bhature.
Notes
- This is a Zero Oil Chole Recipe so adding cooking oil is not necessary. But adding 1 tsp desi ghee will add a rich taste to your Punjabi Chole.
- Secondly, preferably add amla pieces or amla powder because amla will add tangy flavour along with the colour.
- Thirdly, after opening the lid press chole with the back of your spatula. It will make your gravy thick.
